South Africa reiterated that, at the beginning of the session, Gabon had made a statement on behalf of the African Group, stating that the African Group position was that the mandate of the Ad Hoc Committee was to elaborate complementary standards to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination with a view to addressing gaps on contemporary manifestations of racial discrimination in the Convention.
