In accordance with the relevant COP decisions, the CST and its Group of Experts (GoE) have taken a more active role in the review of implementation and have intensified work in many of the core areas of the Convention process, most notably in benchmarks and indicators for monitoring and assessment of desertification.

Best practices should be actively promoted through the CST and its Group of Experts, the national coordinating bodies and the media, including all kinds of information platforms and thematic programme networks, by highlighting these practices as points of reference.

80. The CST and its Group of Experts should propose ways and means to strengthen the capacity of scientific and academic institutions in the LAC to develop synergistic programmes based on sound land use practices.

12. Best practices should be actively promoted through the CST and its Group of Experts, the national coordinating bodies (NCBs) and the media, including all kinds of information platforms and TPNs, by highlighting these practices as points of reference.

The CST and its Group of Experts should consider provisions related to the access to relevant technology, knowledge and know-how and the COP at its sixth session may wish to take appropriate action on this matter.

The CST and its Group of Experts should work closely with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, as well as with other initiatives, such as the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, to take advantage of outcomes from these bodies;

Reinforced coordination has been decided on and carried out by the European External Action Service, the European Commission, the European Union's chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear " centres of excellence " initiative, the Office for Disarmament Affairs, the Committee and its Group of Experts.

(d) The GM and the CST and its GoE have not yet provided yet their expected input to the AHWG.

In accordance with the relevant COP decisions, the CST and its GoE have taken a more active role in the review process and intensified the work in many of the core areas of the Convention process, most notably in developing monitoring and assessment.
