The Republic of Croatia is not pleased with the latest report of the United Nations Secretary-General, which suggests the extension of the UNPROFOR mandate in Croatia by six months, with no essential changes in respect of the present mandate.

1. The Parliament of the Republic of Croatia stands by its decision of 27 January 1995 to terminate the UNPROFOR mandate in the Republic of Croatia as of 31 March 1995.
١ - يؤكد برلمان جمهورية كرواتيا مقرره المؤرخ ٢٧ كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٥ والداعي إلى إنهاء ولاية قوة اﻷمم المتحدة للحماية في جمهورية كرواتيا اعتبارا من ٣١ آذار/مارس ١٩٩٥.

Once again, we wish to reiterate the position that the question of extending the UNPROFOR mandate in Croatia is the sole domain of the Croatian Government and the Croatian Parliament, which will be considered by taking into account the accomplishments of UNPROFOR and the effects of the decision on the peace and stability in the region.

IV. If the aforementioned commitments under II and II above are not met within the specified time, i.e., by 10 January 1995, the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia shall consider the UNPROFOR mandate in the territory of the Republic of Croatia definitively terminated.
رابعا - في حالة عدم الوفاء بالالتزامات المذكورة في ثانيا وثالثا أعلاه في غضون الفترة المحددة أي بحلول ١٠ كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٥، فسيعتبر برلمان جمهورية كرواتيا أن ولاية قوة اﻷمم المتحدة للحماية في اقليم جمهورية كرواتيا منتهية انتهاء قطعيا.

Sixth, the mandate of UNPROFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina must be amended to ensure a more effective role for UNPROFOR in providing international protection to civilians and ensuring the clear and effective implementation of Security Council resolutions.
سادسا، تعديل ولاية قوة اﻷمم المتحدة للحماية في البوسنة والهرسك لضمان قيامها بدور أكثر فعالية في توفير الحماية الدولية الملائمة للسكان المدنيين وتنفيذ القرارات الصادرة عن المجلس بفعالية ووضوح؛

In the view of my Government, this represents a planned action of the Serbian insurgents pursuing the renewal of the war on the territory of the Republic of Croatia - just prior to the so-called " referendum " of the local Serbs for unification with " other Serb countries " , and the conclusion of the mandate of UNPROFOR on 30 June.

Nevertheless, in view of the developments reported by my Special Representative since my report of 20 September 1993 (S/26470), I do not find it necessary to recommend that the Security Council reconsider UNPROFOR's mandate at this time.
