The Special Rapporteur believes that visits and field missions are indispensable for the implementation of her mandate, as they allow her to acquaint herself with specific country situations and to investigate not only the allegations brought to her attention, but put her in a better position to recommend remedial measures to help Governments in building their capacities for better governance.
