His Government welcomed the offer by South Africa to host the Conference, urged that the necessary resources be allocated for convening it and trusted that the Conference would consider both the progress made against racism and the obstacles remaining to its eradication, as well as what measures to take at the national, regional and international levels.

III. Commission on Human Rights 40. At its fifty-sixth session, the Commission on Human Rights, in resolution 2000/14, welcomed the offer by South Africa to host the World Conference against Racism in 2001.

Decides to organize the ten-year review of progress achieved in the implementation of the outcome of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 2002 at the summit level to reinvigorate the global commitment to sustainable development, and accepts with gratitude the generous offer of the Government of South Africa to host the summit;

21. At the 2nd meeting, the Preparatory Committee considered and adopted, without a vote, the proposal to accept the invitation of the Government of South Africa to host the World Conference and the proposal to hold the World Conference from 31 August to 7 September 2001.
21- وفي الجلسة الثانية بحثت اللجنة التحضيرية واعتمدت بدون تصويت الاقتراح الداعي إلى قبول الدعوة التي قدمتها حكومة جنوب أفريقيا لاستضافة المؤتمر العالمي والاقتراح الداعي إلى عقد هذا المؤتمر من 31 آب/أغسطس إلى 7 أيلول/سبتمبر 2001.

26. At the 1st meeting, on 29 November, the President recalled that the COP, by its decision 9/CP.14, had accepted the offer of the Government of South Africa to host COP 17 and CMP 7.
