Takes note of the report of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration of a Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, which carried out its work at the headquarters of the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat in Vienna, and commends the Ad Hoc Committee for its work;
1- تحيط علما بتقرير اللجنة المخصصة لوضع اتفاقية لمكافحة الجريمة المنظمة عبر الوطنية، التي اضطلعت بعملها في مقر مكتب مكافحة المخدرات ومنع الجريمة التابع للأمانة العامة في فيينا، وتثني على اللجنة المخصصة لما قامت به من أعمال؛

A country in Asia reported that its police had received assistance from counterpart agencies in Australia and Japan and from the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat to cover participation at international conferences, seminars and workshops in crime prevention and criminal justice.
15- وذكر بلد في آسيا أن الشرطة لديه تلقت مساعدات من الوكالات النظيرة في أستراليا واليابان ومن مكتب مراقبة المخدرات ومنع الجريمة التابع للأمانة العامة لتغطية نفقات المشاركة في المؤتمرات الدولية والحلقات الدراسية وحلقات العمل في مجال منع الجريمة والعدالة الجنائية.

5. Requests the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat, drawing on available voluntary contributions and donor countries, to extend sustained assistance to the Turkish International Academy against Drugs and Organized Crime, and invites regional Governments to make use of its services.

وفي طاجيكستان،(11) أدى توفير مساعدة مقدارها 6ر2 مليون دولار من دولارات الولايات المتحدة قدمها مكتب مراقبة المخدرات ومنع الجريمة التابع للأمانة العامة لانشاء جهاز لمكافحة المخدرات الى زيادة في مضبوطات العقاقير بلغت نسبتها 70 في المائة في عام 2000.

In 1999 and 2000, the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat submitted reports to the Commission on Narcotic Drugs addressing the issue of drug abuse in youth. Through its " Listening to Young People " initiative, the Office consulted a selected group of young people on their ideas and strategies to prevent drug abuse in their peers.

The programme budget implications pertaining to the revised draft resolution entitled “Tenth United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders” were presented orally by the representative of Programme Support Service of the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat on 6 May 1999 and are provided below.
