The World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (Stockholm Congress) held at Stockholm from 27 to 31 August 1996 was a milestone in the protection of children and played a decisive role in raising awareness of the international community about the alarming proportions of the phenomenon of child abuse all over the world.
