The most recent substantive session of the Council had begun on a positive note, including the adoption of decisions to implement General Assembly resolution 50/227, the constructive review of the question of international cooperation to combat drugs, and the consensus reached on the importance of strengthening collaboration between the United Nations system and the Bretton Woods institutions.
