The draft replaced draft decision IX on the same subject contained in the compilation of suggestions regarding draft decisions that had been considered by the Drafting Group of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (UNEP/GC.19/L.23).

Requests the Executive Secretary, bearing in mind decision IX/10, further to enhance efficiency in the use of financial and human resources in accordance with the priorities set by the Conference of the Parties and to report on the outcome of his efforts in that regard;
15- يطلب إلى الأمين التنفيذي المزيد من تعزيز الكفاءة في استخدام الموارد المالية والبشرية وفقا للأولويات التي حددها مؤتمر الأطراف، واضعاً في اعتباره المقرر تاسعا/10، وأن يقدم تقريراً عن نتائج الجهود التي يبذلها في هذا الصدد؛

13. In recognition of the important role of women as stakeholders in the process of biodiversity conservation, a Gender Plan of Action (UNEP/CBD/COP/9/INF/12/ Rev.1) was adopted -- the first by any multilateral environmental agreement (decision IX/24).

In decision IX/13, G, paragraph 5, the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties requested that the Working Group on Article 8 (j) further develop the draft elements of a code of ethical conduct and submit them to the Conference of the Parties at its tenth meeting for its consideration and possible adoption.

In decision IX/12, paragraph 11, the Conference of the Parties considered, inter alia, the recommendations of the Permanent Forum and decided to establish three distinct groups of technical and legal experts on: (a) compliance; (b) concepts, terms, working definitions and sectoral approaches; and (c) traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources.

On that basis, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela draws attention to the key role of other international instruments in dealing with marine and coastal biological diversity beyond national jurisdiction, as reflected in decision IX/20 of the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which was held from 19 to 30 May 2008 in Bonn, Germany.
