In that context, I would like to draw attention to the recent report of the Secretary-General on promoting development through the reduction and prevention of armed violence (A/64/228).

The draft resolution, " Promoting development through the reduction and prevention of armed violence " , reflects a careful balance of its twin objectives to reduce armed violence for better development and to propose development strategies that lead to a reduction of armed violence.
يعكس مشروع القرار " تعزيز التنمية عن طريق الحدّ من العنف المسلح ومنعه " توازناً دقيقاً بين هدفيه التوأمين، وهما الحد من العنف المسلح من أجل تنمية أفضل، واقتراح استراتيجيات إنمائية تؤدي إلى انحسار العنف المسلح.
