Mr. Pascoe (Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs) said that the report of the Secretary-General on strengthening the role of the United Nations in enhancing the effectiveness of the principle of periodic and genuine elections and the promotion of democratization (A/64/304) described the activities of the United Nations system in providing electoral assistance to Member States over the previous two years.
