The Unit supports the views expressed by the Chairman of the Panel of external auditors and the United Nations Board of Auditors in a letter dated 17 February 1994 to the President of the General Assembly (A/48/876) on the different nature, roles and functions of the external, internal audit and oversight mechanisms in general.
