" The Security Council deplores the recent hijacking of a vessel off the coast of Somalia that had been chartered by the World Food Programme (WFP) and was carrying food aid for tsunami victims, and notes the subsequent decision by the WFP to suspend all shipments of humanitarian assistance to Somalia.

70. I commend the United Nations programmes and agencies for their continued delivery of humanitarian assistance to Somalia, and I encourage the international community to continue to generously support humanitarian relief and development assistance efforts to help the Somali people combat the humanitarian and developmental challenges.
70 - وأشيد هنا ببرامج ووكالات الأمم المتحدة لاستمرار تقديمها المساعدة الإنسانية إلى الصومال. وأشجع المجتمع الدولي على مواصلة دعمه السخي في مجال الإغاثة الإنسانية وجهود المساعدة الإنمائية لمساعدة الشعب الصومالي على التصدي للتحديات الإنسانية والإنمائية.

The Council also extended until 25 October 2014 the exemption to the asset freeze imposed by paragraph 3 of resolution 1844 (2008) in connection with the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Somalia.
