This was followed in 1924 with the signing of the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules of Law Relating to Bills of Lading, which now forms the foundation of the law on carriage of goods by sea.

The JIGE, at its sixth session, having completed the final reading of the draft articles for a convention on maritime liens and mortgages, also held an exchange of views concerning the possible review of the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to the Arrest of Sea-going Ships, 1952 (hereinafter referred to as the Arrest Convention).
٢- وفي الدورة السادسة لفريق الخبراء الحكومي الدولي المشترك، استكمل الفريق القراءة النهائية لمشاريع مواد اتفاقية معنية بالامتيازات والرهون البحرية، كما تبادل اﻵراء فيما يتعلق بإمكان تعديل الاتفاقية الدولية لتوحيد قواعد معينة تتصل بحجز السفن البحرية لعام ٢٥٩١ )ويشار إليها هنا باتفاقية الحجز(.

The Sessional Group noted that it had been requested by the plenary of the Joint Intergovernmental Group of Experts to deal with agenda item 3, namely consideration of the possible review of the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to the Arrest of Sea-going Ships, 1952.
١- لاحظ فريق الدورة أن الجلسة العامة لفريق الخبراء الحكومي الدولي المشترك قد طلبت منه أن يبحث البند ٣ من جدول اﻷعمال المعنون " النظر في امكانية استعراض الاتفاقية الدولية لتوحيد قواعد معينة تتعلق بحجز السفن البحرية، ٢٥٩١ " .
