The third subprogramme has the objective of facilitating the implementation of the Nairobi Programme of Action for the Development and Utilization of New and Renewable Sources of Energy and relevant areas of Agenda 21, mainly through the monitoring of worldwide progress and the strengthening of coordination efforts within the United Nations system as regards activities in new and renewable sources of energy.
١٦ - ويتمثل هدف البرنامج الفرعي الثالث في تسهيل تنفيذ برنامج عمل نيروبي لتنمية واستخدام مصدار الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة والمجالات ذات الصلة من جدول أعمال القرن ٢١، أساسا من خلال رصد التقدم العالمي وتعزيز تنسيق الجهود داخل منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة فيما يتعلق باﻷنشطة في مجال مصادر الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة.

4. Progress in the implementation of the Nairobi Programme of Action was evaluated by the United Nations Intergovernmental Group of Experts on New and Renewable Sources of Energy, which met in New York from 26 to 30 August 1991 (see A/AC.218/1992/9).
٤ - وقد اضطلع بتقييم التقدم المحرز في تنفيذ برنامج عمل نيروبي فريق الخبراء الحكومي الدولي التابع لﻷمم المتحدة، المعني بمصادر الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة، الذي اجتمع في نيويورك، من ٢٦ الى ٣٠ آب/أغسطس )انظر A/AC.2/48/1992/9(.

In the biennium 1996-1997, the monitoring and evaluation of progress in the context of the Nairobi Programme of Action will continue with emphasis on those sources of energy which have already proved their technical and economic viability as well as other new and renewable sources of energy such as biomass with a view of providing the Committee on New and Renewable Sources of Energy and on Energy for Development with relevant recommendations.
