Following Executive Board decision 1993/14 (see E/ICEF/1993/14), efforts will be made to integrate the concept of primary environmental care (PEC) into UNICEF-assisted programmes for health, nutrition, education and water supply and sanitation in order to reinforce sustainability, empower people and communities and make optimal use of natural resources in and around the community, in conjunction with the achievement of the mid-decade goals.
