The United Nations Office for Partnerships, UNICEF, UNDP and the United Nations Global Compact Office co-hosted the Seventh Annual Conference of United Nations private sector focal points, under the title " Exploring the challenges and opportunities of collaboration throughout the partnership life cycle " .

At the same plenary meeting, the Group of Governmental Experts recommended that follow up work arising from the Meeting of the States Parties (18 and 19 November 2004) shall be held under the oversight of the Chairman-designate of the Meeting of the States Parties proposed to be held at Geneva in 2005 in conjunction with the Seventh Annual Conference of the States Parties to Amended Protocol II.

At the same Meeting the States Parties decided, as contained in paragraph 29 of CCW/MSP/2004/2, " to commission follow-up work under the oversight of the Chairperson-designate of a Meeting of the States Parties to the Convention to be held on 24 and 25 November 2005 at Geneva in conjunction with the Seventh Annual Conference of the States Parties to Amended Protocol II. "

It also considered the estimated costs of the Seventh Annual Conference and recommended them for adoption at the time of the Conference in 2005 (CCW/AP.II/CONF.6/3, Annex IV). The Meeting of the States Parties to the Convention, held on 18 and 19 November 2004, decided that the Seventh Annual Conference of the States Parties to Amended Protocol II be held on 23 November 2005.
