Some of the measures taken by States bordering straits have met with protests by user States, e.g., Turkey's decision to impose its national maritime traffic regulations in the Strait of Istanbul, the Strait of Çanakkale and the Sea of Marmara met with protests, including a protest to the Secretary-General of the United Nations by the Russian Federation (see A/49/631, para. 121).115
