The workshop took place within the context of the Tehran Framework for Technical Cooperation for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in the Asian and Pacific Region and included discussion on health, children, labour rights, migration, development and enhancing international cooperation.

This constitutes the second biennial programme of action adopted by member States of the Asian and Pacific region since the Tehran Framework for Regional Technical Cooperation in the Asian and Pacific Region was adopted in 1998.

20. There was broad agreement with respect to the importance of this pillar of the Tehran Framework.

In this connection, participants at the workshop decided that the future annual workshops should hold an in-depth discussion of a specific theme pertaining to one of the four areas identified under the Tehran Framework, to be agreed upon by the team in Geneva comprising Geneva—based representatives of the Governments of the Asian-Pacific region.

47. The conclusions further encouraged the United Nations country teams to support the implementation of activities at country level under the Tehran Framework and the strengthening of national human rights capacities, at the request of Member States.
