XI. The fall of Srebrenica: an assessment

7. At the outset, I wish to point out that certain sections of this report may bear similarity to accounts of the fall of Srebrenica that have already appeared in a number of incisive books, journal articles, and press reports on the subject.

During the same offensive Žepa was separated from Srebrenica by a narrow corridor of Serb-held land, becoming an isolated enclave of its own. Žepa remained isolated until it was overrun by the Serbs after the fall of Srebrenica in July 1995.

Enforcement action was urgent in view of the fresh wave of " ethnic cleansing " after the fall of Srebrenica and Zepa and the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against the Bosnian Muslim refugees and displaced persons.

In 2001, the HR Committee remained concerned that, six years after the alleged involvement of members of the Netherlands' peacekeeping forces in the events surrounding the fall of Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in July 1995, the responsibility of the persons concerned has yet to be publicly and finally determined.
