Of the priority actions that must be undertaken in the region in this regard, empowering local communities is one major step towards poverty eradication and environmental protection, human resources and institutional capacity building, livelihood and job creation, and equity for women.

Accordingly, it is necessary to support the national efforts and initiatives of several States of the region in this regard and to encourage this approach to include all aspects of the Arab heritage, including the scientific heritage, Islamic heritage, documentary heritage, popular heritage, architectural heritage and literary heritage, etc.
لذا يجب دعم الجهود والمبادرات الوطنية التي بذلت في بعض دول المنطقة في هذا الشأن وتشجيع هذا التوجه ليشمل التراث العربي بكافة جوانبه المتضمنة التراث العلمي والتراث الإسلامي، والتراث الوثائقي، والتراث الشعبي والتراث المعماري والتراث الأدبي وغيره.

We also underscore the importance of the appeals made by the Secretary-General, on behalf of the United Nations, for the protection of civilian life and the importance of his visit to the region in this context, as well as the importance of the efforts being exerted by other concerned parties, especially Egypt, to bring an end to the violence and suffering.

13. Take note of the progress made in the negotiations on the new United Nations Convention against corruption and invite donor countries to continue to support the participation of the countries of the region in this process;
