1. Strongly encourages Member States to take appropriate measures to prevent and combat illicit trafficking in protected species of wild fauna and flora, including the adoption of the necessary legislation for the prevention, investigation and prosecution of such trafficking;

The Centre also held several meetings with the United Nations International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) and the Government of Peru on the organization and implementation of a project proposal entitled " Strengthening Peruvian control over its sea, air and land borders to prevent and combat illicit trafficking in drugs, firearms and ammunition " .
