21. The Committee also followed with interest briefings by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs on other disarmament and arms control-related issues that had emerged globally since the twenty-seventh ministerial meeting.

In 2007, the Centre was entrusted with the task of serving as the secretariat of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa; in this capacity it organized the twenty-sixth ministerial meeting of the Standing Advisory Committee, held in Yaoundé from 3 to 7 September 2007, and the twenty-seventh ministerial meeting, held in Luanda from 13 to 15 May 2008.

34. Within the framework of its partnership with the Office for Disarmament Affairs, ECCAS prepared, for the first time, the working paper that served as the basis for the discussion of the geopolitical review at the twenty-seventh ministerial meeting; as a result of that experience, the Committee once again entrusted ECCAS with the task of drafting a similar paper for the twenty-eighth ministerial meeting.
34 - وفي هذا الصدد، قامت الجماعة الاقتصادية لأول مرة، خلال الاجتماع الوزاري السابع والعشرين وفي إطار شراكتها مع مكتب شؤون نزع السلاح، بصياغة وثيقة العمل التي اتخذت أساسا للمناقشة بشأن استعراض الحالة الجغرافية - السياسية. وعلى إثر هذه التجربة، جددت اللجنة ثقتها في الجماعة الاقتصادية، وطلبت إليها الاضطلاع بنفس المهمة لغرض الاجتماع الوزاري الثامن والعشرين.
