Under the sub-item, the Co-Chair of the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel first took up the request by the parties in decision XXI/7 to be kept informed of issues related to the consideration of halon uses in new airframes.

He recalled that decision XV/11 authorized the Ozone Secretariat and the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel and its Halons Technical Options committee to discuss with ICAO the development of a plan of action to modify regulations that mandate the use of halon in new airframes.
وأشار إلى أن المقرر 15/11 أذن لأمانة الأوزون وفريق التكنولوجيا والتقييم الاقتصادي، من خلال لجنة الخيارات التقنية للهالونات، بأن يناقشا مع منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي وضع خطة عمل لتعديل اللوائح التي تجيز استخدام الهالونات في أبدان الطائرات الجديدة.

Regarding decision XV/11 and the effort to use alternatives to halons in new airframes, the cochair reported that the airline Lufthansa was now using the halon alternative HFC-236fa in eight to ten of its Airbus aircraft as a direct replacement in the lavatory waste bin fire protection system.
27 - ففيما يتعلق بالمقرر 15/11 والجهود المبذولة لاستخدام بدائل للهالونات في أبدان الطائرات الجديدة، أبلغ الرئيس المشارك أن شركة الطيران لوفتهانزا تستخدم الآن HFC-236 fa كبديل للهالونات في ثماني إلى عشر طائرات إيرباص وذلك كإحلال مباشر في نظام الوقاية من حرائق صناديق النفايات في المختبرات.

Further to decision XV/11, the Halons Technical Options Committee had been working with the International Civil Aviation Organization on a plan of action to modify regulatory requirements mandating the use of halons in new airframes, but serious delays had occurred owing to the retirement of the ICAO contact person, which had disrupted the relationship between the committee and the organization.
188- ووفقاً للمقرر 15/11، تعاونت لجنة الخيارات التقنية المعنية بالهالونات مع منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي بشأن خطة عمل لتعديل الاشتراطات التنظيمية المخولة لاستخدام الهالونات في أبدان الطائرات الجديدة، ولكن حدثت تأخيرات خطيرة بسبب تقاعد ضابط الاتصال في منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي، وهو ما أخل بالعلاقات بين اللجنة والمنظمة.
