Indeed as repeatedly highlighted by the Special Rapporteur, a number of existing registration practices need to be reviewed by States to ensure that such practices do not limit the right of all persons to manifest their religion or belief, either alone or in community with others and in public or private.

276. The presence of Christians, regardless of nationality, is related to employment and the State accords them the right, under the law, to manifest their religion and freedom to hold religious ceremonies in their own places of worship.
٦٧٢- فوجود مسيحيين يرتبط وجودهم بظروف العمل أيا كانت جنسيتهم، توفر لهم الدولة وفقا ﻷحكام القانون الحق في إظهار دينهم والحرية في ممارسة شعائره في دور العبادة الخاصة بهم، واﻷمر كذلك بالنسبة ﻷي طائفة أو ملة أخرى يهودية، أو بوذية، أو مسيحية أو غيرها.

7.4 The Committee notes that the authors' refusal to be drafted for compulsory military service was a direct expression of their religious beliefs which, it is uncontested, were genuinely held and that the authors' subsequent conviction and sentence amounted to an infringement of their freedom of conscience and a restriction on their ability to manifest their religion or belief.
