Deeply concerned about the increasing scale of illegal trade in wildlife and its products, including forest products, including timber, and marine species, and its adverse economic, social and environmental impacts,

33. At its 6th plenary meeting, the Environment Assembly adopted resolution 1/3, on illegal trade in wildlife, in paragraph 5 of which it called on the General Assembly to consider the issue of illegal wildlife trade at its sixty-ninth session.

(ح) المساعدة على تهيئة سُبل معيشة مستدامة وبديلة للمجتمعات المحلية المتضررة من الاتجار غير المشروع في الأحياء البرية وآثاره الضارة مع المشاركة الكاملة للمجتمعات المحلية في موائل الأحياء البرية وبالقرب منها، باعتبارها شريك نشط في مجال الحفظ والاستخدام المستدام، وتعزيز حقوق المجتمعات المحلية وقدرتها على إدارة الأحياء البرية والحياة البرية والاستفادة منها؛

During the discussion, ministers and other representatives provided their views on the challenges of the illegal wildlife trade and its consequences in terms of the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainable development, which, they observed, were exacerbating the impact of other global crises.
