The necessary reforms are already producing results. I refer in particular to the recent decision to establish the Office of internal oversight Services.

The new Office of internal oversight Services (IOS) will make this Organization more efficient, more effective and more accountable.

In carrying out his responsibilities and in fulfilling the functions enumerated above, the Under-Secretary-General for internal oversight Services would draw on the staff and other resources currently assigned to the Office of Inspections and Investigations.
ولدى اضطلاعه بمسؤولياته وتنفيذه للمهام المذكورة أعلاه، يعتمد وكيل اﻷمين العام لشؤون خدمات الاشراف الداخلي على الموارد البشرية والموارد اﻷخرى المخصصة حاليا لمكتب عمليات التفتيش والتحقيق.

(i) The Under-Secretary-General for internal oversight Services shall be an expert in the fields of accounting, auditing, financial analysis and investigations, management, law or public administration;
' ١ ' يكون وكيل اﻷمين العام لخدمات الاشراف الداخلي خبيرا في ميادين المحاسبة، أو مراجعة الحسابات، أو التحليل المالي والتحقيقات، أو التنظيم، أو القانون، أو اﻹدارة العامة؛

(i) The Under-Secretary-General for internal oversight Services shall be an expert in the fields of accounting, auditing, financial analysis and investigations, management, law or public administration;
' ١ ' يكون وكيل اﻷمين العام لخدمات الاشراف الداخلي خبيرا في ميادين المحاسبة أو مراجعة الحسابات، أو التحليل المالي والتحقيقات، أو التنظيم، أو القانون أو الادارة العامة؛

(iv) The Under-Secretary-General for internal oversight Services may be removed by the Secretary-General only for cause and with the approval of the General Assembly;
' ٤ ' لا يجوز لﻷمين العام إنهاء خدمة وكيل اﻷمين العام لخدمات الاشراف الداخلي إلا بناء على اقتراح معلل وبموافقة الجمعية العامة؛

The purpose of the Office of internal oversight Services is to assist the Secretary-General in fulfilling his internal oversight responsibilities in respect of the resources and staff of the Organization through the exercise of the following functions:
القصد من مكتب خدمات الاشراف الداخلي هو مساعدة اﻷمين العام في الاضطلاع بمسؤوليات الاشراف الداخلي فيما يتعلق بموارد وموظفي المنظمة عن طريق ممارسة المهام التالية:

(iv) Increase internal oversight and supervision;
