Therefore my delegation fully endorses the statement made by the Ambassador of Chile, and equally, reiterating my support and my hope that this Conference will be able to renew the mandates of the four Special Coordinators, I attach special importance to the renewal of the appointment of the Ambassador of Australia because of the special characteristics attached to his case.

Firstly, we believe that His Excellency the Ambassador of Australia was probably more fortunate than the other four Special Coordinators because he had a specific and clear—cut mandate. However, the statement he made today gave my delegation the impression that the Special Coordinator had exceeded this mandate.
