In the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing from 4 to 15 September 1995, Governments committed themselves to the promotion of an active and visible policy of mainstreaming a gender perspective into all policies and programmes, including with regard to human rights of women.
