Report of the African Union-United Nations panel on modalities for support to African Union peacekeeping operations

In place of the broken status quo, the panel on modalities for support to African Union operations recommended two options. First, States Members of the United Nations should establish a multi-donor trust fund to support the peacekeeping capacity of the African Union.

In its decision 1994/117, the Sub-Commission decided to adopt the report of its sessional working group on methods of work (E/CN.4/Sub.2/1994/3), including its recommendations, which should be strictly adhered to.

:: With regard to financing peace operations of the African Union, we want to reaffirm the necessity of implementing the recommendations of the African Union-United Nations panel on modalities for support to African Union operations, published in 2008, while simultaneously generating more African sources of funding.
:: فيما يتعلق بتمويل عمليات الاتحاد الأفريقي لإحلال السلام، نود إعادة تأكيد ضرورة تنفيذ توصيات الفريق المشترك بين الاتحاد الأفريقي والأمم المتحدة المعني بأساليب دعم عمليات الاتحاد الأفريقي، الصادرة عام 2008، مع العمل في الوقت ذاته على اجتذاب مزيد من التمويل من مصادر أفريقية.

We recommend a two-pronged approach whereby the recommendations of the panel on modalities for support to African Union operations are implemented, while a renewed push is made simultaneously to generate indigenous and additional exogenous sources of financing for peace operations of the African Union.
لذا فإننا نوصي باتباع نهج ذي شقين يقوم على تنفيذ توصيات الفريق المعني بأساليب دعم عمليات الاتحاد الأفريقي، والدفع مجددا لإيجاد مصادر محلية ومصادر خارجية إضافية لتمويل عمليات السلام التي يضطلع بها الاتحاد الأفريقي في الوقت نفسه.
