The view was expressed that the mechanism was particularly significant to the deliberations of the universal periodic review mechanism, as the quality and use of documents of the special procedures was significant to that process also.
وأُعرب عن رأي مفاده أن الآلية تتمتع بأهمية خاصة بالنسبة للمداولات المتعلقة بآلية الاستعراض الدوري الشامل، حيث أن نوعية وثائق الإجراءات الخاصة وطريقة استخدامها لها أهميتها في هذه العملية أيضا.

237. Tunisia reiterated its full commitment to the universal periodic review mechanism, which would help to advance human rights issues throughout the world.

The methodology adopted by the Committee, prior to the actual drafting of the report, consisted in broad consultation among government departments and human rights NGOs, in order to make them aware of the new universal periodic review mechanism.

While most representatives welcomed the universal periodic review mechanism, many delegations noted the strain that Governments were under in both reporting to that mechanism and following up on the recommendations together with the treaty body recommendations.
