12. One of the most important aspects of the problem was connected with the applicability of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 12 August 1949.

The report on the applicability of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949, to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and the other occupied Arab territories (A/68/313) summarized the responses from the Syrian Arab Republic and from Cuba to a request for information on the steps taken to implement General Assembly resolution 67/119.
