135. The Nigerian Government should take steps to meet the targets it has accepted in relation to education for all by the year 2000 and should enforce the right to compulsory, free primary education.

66. His delegation welcomed the interim report of the Secretary-General and of the Director-General of UNESCO on progress towards the goal of education for all by the year 2000 (A/54/128-E/1999/70) and the fact that more than two thirds of the world’s population were now literate.
٦٦ - وقال إن وفده يرحب بالتقرير المرحلي المقدم من اﻷمين العام والمدير العام لليونيسكو عن التقدم المحرز نحو تحقيق هدف توفير التعليم للجميع بحلول سنة ٢٠٠٠ )A/54/128-E/1999/70( وبما جاء به من أن أكثر من ثلثي سكان العالم يلمون اﻵن بالقراءة والكتابة.

(أ) مواصلة جهودها من أجل تحقيق هدف توفير التعليم للجميع بحلول عام 2015 بإيلاء اهتمام خاص لمسألة زيادة معدل التسجيل في المدارس والمساواة في ذلك بين الفتيات والفتيان وبين المناطق الحضرية والمناطق الريفية والنائية؛

Bhutan had also improved primary school coverage which, coupled with measures such as social mobilization, increased capacity in some schools and continuation of the WFP feeding programme, would make it possible to maintain the minimum growth rate of 5 per cent that was necessary to meet the goal of education for all by the year 2002.
٥١ - وأردفت قائلة إن بوتان تمكنت أيضا من تحسين نطاق التغطية بالتعليم الابتدائي، مما أدى، مقترنا ببعض التدابير اﻷخرى مثل التعبئة الاجتماعية، إلى زيادة الاستيعابية لبعض المدارس، كما أن استمرار برنامج التغذية التي يضطلع به برنامج اﻷغذية العالمي سيمكن من الحفاظ على الحد اﻷدنى لمعدل النمو اللازم لتحقيق هدف توفير التعليم للجميع بحلول عام ٢٠٠٢، وهو ٥ في المائة.
