In 1990, a government headed by a woman, Ertha Pascal Trouillet, a judge of the Court of Cassation who was appointed Provisional President of the Republic, arranged free elections, which resulted in the people electing Jean Bertrand Aristide as President.
وفي سنة 1990، تولت حكومة برئاسة امرأة هي السيدة أيرثا باسكال ثرويو، القاضية في محكمة التمييز التي عُينت رئيسة مؤقتة للجمهورية، تنظيم انتخابات حرة أدت إلى اختيار جان برتران أريستيد، رئيسا للجمهورية.

4. Following the deployment of the multinational force, President Jean-Bertrand Aristide returned to Haiti on 15 October 1994.

1. The Miami International Conference affirms its support for the physical return to Haiti of the President of the Republic, Mr. Jean-Bertrand Aristide, to discharge his constitutional mandate.
١ - يؤكد مؤتمر ميامي الدولي تأييده لعودة رئيس الجمهورية جان برتران أريستيد إلى هايتي لممارسة ولايته الدستورية.

7. The Conference recommends the convening of a national conference after the return to Haiti of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide to discharge his functions.
٧ - ويوصي المؤتمر بعقد مؤتمر وطني بعد عودة الرئيس جان برتران أريستيد إلى مباشرة مهام منصبه في هايتي.

When groups of individuals try to exercise this right they are arrested and brutally beaten by members of the military and police force, and accused of organizing meetings in support of president Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

وترحب بنن بإعادة تنصيب السلطات الهايتية المشروعة، وتحيي شجاعة الرئيس جان برتران اريستيد، الذي أشاع روح المصالحة، وشعوره بالمسؤولية.

Some of Jean-Bertrand Aristide's supporters have criticized this committee for not being impartial, since it is chaired by Paul Denis, a former Senator in the opposition under Aristide, and for substituting itself for the High Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes.
وقد انتقد بعض أتباع جان برتران أريستيد هذه اللجنة قائلين إن حيادها مشكوك فيه، حيث إن رئيسها هو بول داني، عضو مجلس الشيوخ السابق وكان ينتمي إلى المعارضة لأريستيد، ولأنها تحل محل المحكمة العليا للحسابات والنزاعات الإدارية المعلقة.

8. On 7 January 1998, the OPL made public a nine-point programme to solve the crisis and announced that it had sent two emissaries to President Préval and former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

During my third visit to Haiti, in October 1995, on the first anniversary of the return of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, I was able to witness this progress myself.
