With regard to marriage for example, the Eritrean Constitution asserts that: " Men and Women of full legal age shall have the right, upon their consent, to marry and found a family freely, without discrimination and they shall have equal rights and duties as to all family affairs. "
وفيما يتعلق بالزواج على سبيل المثال، يؤكد دستور إريتريا أن " الرجال والنساء الذين بلغوا السن القانونية لهم الحق، بشرط الرضا، في أن يتزوجوا وأن يؤسسوا أسرة بحرية، دون تمييز، وأن لكل منهما حقوقاً وواجبات متساوية بالنسبة لجميع أمور الأسرة " .

32. 76. All Ethiopian nationals shall have equal rights and obligations of citizenship regardless of the manner in which nationality is obtained.
76- وتكون لجميع المواطنين الإثيوبيين حقوقاً وواجبات متساوية في مجال المواطنة بغض النظر عن طريقة الحصول على الجنسية.

Marriage is therefore a contract between a man and a woman that gives rise to rights and obligations on the part of each towards the other. It may be entered into only with the acceptance of both parties and before a competent officer who has the right to conduct the marriage. It is recorded in an official marriage register and a copy of the marriage contract is subsequently transmitted to the Department of Civil Status for registration.
فالزواج هو عقد بين رجل وامرأة يرتب حقوقاً وواجبات لكل منهما تجاه الآخر ولا يمكن أن ينعقد إلاّ بالقبول من الطرفين وأمام موظف مختص له الحق قانوناً بإجرائه ويتم تسجيله في سجل خاص رسمي وثم يرسل نسخة من عقد الزواج إلى دائرة الأحوال المدنية للتسجيل.

122. The concept of “family” implies a voluntary matrimonial union of a man and woman, registered with the appropriate State bodies, with the ensuing property and non-property-related rights and obligations (raising of the children, joint running of the household etc.).
٢٢١- ويتطلب مفهوم " اﻷسرة " اقتراناً زوجياً طوعياً لرجل وامرأة، يسجل لدى هيئات الدولة المناسبة، ويستتبع حقوقاً وواجبات تتصل بالممتلكات وبغيرها )تربية اﻷطفال واﻹدارة المشتركة لشؤون اﻷسرة وغير ذلك(.

195. Parents have the right and the obligation to rear and care for their children. Parents have equal rights and obligations in regard to their children even if their marriage is dissolved (art. 66, MFC).
٥٩١ - يحق للأهل ويجب عليهم أن يقوموا بتربية أبنائهم ورعايتهم؛ كما أن لهم حقوقاً وواجبات متساوية تجاه أطفالهم حتى ولو فسخ زواجهم )المادة ٦٦ من قانون الزواج والأسرة(.
