6. Takes note with appreciation of the report of the Committee on the Rights of the Child on its third session 9/ and the recommendations contained therein concerning the situation of children affected by armed conflict;

Article 45 made specific reference to UNICEF’s responsibility in: participating in the consideration of States parties’ reports; providing expert advice on the implementation of the Convention; submitting reports to the Committee on the Rights of the Child on the implementation of the Convention; and responding to requests by the Committee for technical advice or assistance to a State party.

The Committee recommends that the State party ensure that general comments No. 11 on plans of action for primary education and No. 13 on the right to education, as well as general comment No. 1 of the Committee on the Rights of the Child on the aim of education, are duly taken into consideration when elaborating its educational policies.

Concern was expressed by CRC at the limited access of children to health services, especially with regard to the shortage of medication and technical equipment, and of medical and public health personnel.
