Dirani was held in Israel from 1994-2004. During this time he filed a tort claim against the State of Israel. He was returned to Lebanon before the court decided on the case.
وكان ديراني معتقلاً في إسرائيل في الفترة بين عام 1994 وعام 2004، وقام خلال تلك الفترة بتقديم مطالبة بالتعويض عن الضرر ضد دولة إسرائيل، لكنه أُعيد إلى لبنان قبل أن تبتّ المحكمة في القضية.

On 18 July 2011, the Supreme Court ruled on the State's appeal to dismiss the petition in limine owing to Dirani's return to an enemy state.
وفي 18 تموز/يوليه 2011، أصدرت المحكمة العليا حكمها في الاستئناف الذي قدمته الدولة لرفض الطلب من البداية جراء عودة ديراني إلى دولة معادية.

The Court noted that although Dirani was a citizen of an enemy state and actively acting against Israel, the constitutional right for due process and the protection of human rights oblige that the right for access to courts be protected.
لكن المحكمة رأت أنه على الرغم من كون ديراني مواطناً في دولة معادية ويعمل بنشاط ضد إسرائيل، فإن الحق الدستوري في المعاملة وفق الأصول القانونية وحماية حقوق الإنسان يوجِب حماية الحق في الوصول إلى المحاكم.

This case is pending a further decision by the Supreme Court at the request of the State (A.C.H. 5698/11 State of Israel v. Mustafa Dirani).
والقضية معلّقة بانتظار قرار المحكمة العليا بناءً على طلب من الدولة (القضية A.C.H. 5698/11 دولة إسرائيل ضد مصطفى ديراني).

Thus, the Court heard the case and ultimately determined that the established Israeli mechanisms for investigation of claims against ISA interrogators provided a reasonable balance between all relevant interests. This determination was conditional upon completing changes within the ISA and the Ministry of Justice (C.A. 993/06 State of Israel v. Mustafa Dirani (18.7.2011)).
