It is charged with prosecuting persons presumed responsible for acts of genocide and other serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of Rwanda in 1994, in order to put an end to impunity and to promote national reconciliation.

1. The Prosecutor shall be responsible for the investigation and prosecution of persons responsible for serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of Rwanda and Rwandan citizens responsible for such violations committed in the territory of neighbouring States, between 1 January 1994 and 31 December 1994.
١ - يتولى المدعي العام مسؤولية التحقيق مع اﻷشخاص المسؤولين عن الانتهاكات الجسيمة للقانون الانساني الدولي المرتكبة في أراضي رواندا والمواطنين الروانديين المسؤولين عن ارتكاب هذه الانتهاكات في أراضي الدول المجاورة، بين ١ كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٤ و ٣١ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٤ وإقامة الدعوى عليهم.

6. The Commission shall endeavour to proceed with exhaustive investigation and shall try to verify each allegation of grave violation of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of Rwanda.
٦ - تسعى اللجنة الى إجراء تحقيقات شاملة، وتحاول التحقق من كل ادعاء بارتكاب انتهاك جسيم للقانون اﻹنساني الدولي في أراضي رواندا.

87. Since early February 1995, various international organizations working on Rwandan territory have recommended that the Ministers of Defence and Justice should take urgent steps to rehabilitate the prisons.
٧٨- منذ أوائل شباط/فبراير ٥٩٩١، أوصت منظمات دولية مختلفة عاملة في أراضي رواندا وزيري الدفاع والعدل الروانديين باتخاذ تدابير عاجلة لاصلاح السجون.

It recommended, inter alia, that Rwanda ensure that children under the age of 18 were not recruited into the Local Defence Forces or into any armed group on the territory of Rwanda.
