Participation of all citizens is essential to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, and volunteering channels such participation, ensuring local ownership, sustainability, and outreach. In this context, UNV works to integrate volunteering into UNDP country programme action plans, UNDAFs and other United Nations system initiatives, as well as in programmes of development partners.
