Regarding the status of ISAR, he underlined that it had existed before Midrand and that paragraph 115 of the “Partnership for Growth and Development” was open to different interpretations.

3. The Commission decided to convene, in accordance with " A Partnership for Growth and Development " and the UNCTAD calendar of meetings as contained in TD/B/43/INF.1/Rev.2, the following expert meetings to:

The " Midrand Declaration " and " A Partnership for Growth and Development " had given a new and well focused framework for the work of UNCTAD in the period ahead.

Its status in UNCTAD had been recognized in paragraph 115 of the “Partnership for Growth and Development”, and therefore the Commission could decide on its future sessions.

In his opinion paragraph 115 of the “Partnership for Growth and Development” was being interpreted incorrectly by some delegations.
ورأى أن بعض الوفود تخطئ في تفسير الفقرة ٥١١ من وثيقة " شراكة من أجل تحقيق النمو والتنمية " .

In addition, resources permitting, and in line with the request in “A Partnership for Growth and Development” (para. 91 (iii)) the UNCTAD secretariat is planning to organize a regional seminar for Africa during the last quarter of 1997.

In accordance with paragraph 94 of “A Partnership for Growth and Development”, discussions are expected to take place with ITU on cooperation in assessing the practical trade implications of the emerging Global Information Infrastructure (GII) and identifying relevant avenues for action in this area.
