The delegation of Bulgaria would like to inform the Assembly that by a law dated 27 July 1994 the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria has ratified the Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage and the Joint Protocol on the application of the Vienna Convention and the Paris Convention.

In the World Trade Organization (WTO), Cuba has repeatedly denounced the incompatibility of this regulation with the obligations set forth in the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, and reserves the right to assess possible future actions in this context.

The 1960 Paris Convention and the 1963 Vienna Convention are linked by the Joint Protocol relating to the Application of the Vienna Convention and the Paris Convention (Joint Protocol), which seeks to mutually extend the benefit of civil liability set forth in each Convention and to avoid any conflict that may arise as a result of the simultaneous application of the two conventions in a nuclear incident.
