I visited Lebanon from 13 to 15 January 2012 where I held talks with President Sleiman, Prime Minister Mikati, and the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, as well as a number of representatives of Lebanese parties.
وقد زرت لبنان في الفترة من 13 إلى 15 كانون الثاني/يناير 2012، حيث أجريت محادثات مع الرئيس سليمان ورئيس الوزراء ميقاتي ورئيس مجلس النوّاب نبيه بري، وكذلك مع عدد من ممثلي الأحزاب اللبنانية.

The laudable visits and efforts by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and a praiseworthy initiative pursued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia laid the foundations for talks between the leader of the parliamentary majority, Saad Hariri, and the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, in early to mid-March.
وأرست الزيارات والجهود التي تستحق الثناء من جانب أمين عام جامعة الدول العربية والمبادرة التي تستحق الثناء التي تقدمت بها المملكة العربية السعودية أسس إجراء محادثات بين زعيم الأغلبية البرلمانية، سعد الحريري، ورئيس البرلمان، نبيه بري، في أوائل آذار/مارس.

In addition, for the first time since the 8 March group was established, all the representatives of the group -- with the exception of the Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, who attended in his institutional capacity and not as President of the Amal movement -- boycotted the last session called for by President Sleiman on 4 November 2010.

وخلال الفترة المشمولة بالتقرير، عقدت جلسة حوار وطني واحدة في 4 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2010 بدعوة من الرئيس سليمان، قاطعها جميع ممثلي حركة 8 آذار، باستثناء رئيس مجلس النواب نبيه برّي، الذي أوضح أنه شارك في الجلسة بصفته الرسمية كرئيس لمجلس النواب، وليس كرئيس لحركة أمل.

Mr. Nabih Al-Zenat (Jordan) (spoke in Arabic): The delegation of Jordan highly appreciates the efforts by the Ad Hoc Committee of the Whole of the Twenty-first Special Session of the General Assembly, efforts aimed at achieving formulations that reflect common principles among the States and that respect the convictions and characteristics of States.
