11. The second Asia-Africa cooperation Forum, hosted by the Government of Thailand, was held in June 1997.
١١ - عُقد في حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٧ المنبر الثاني للتعاون بين آسيا وأفريقيا الذي استضافته حكومة تايلند.

In this connection, my Government has taken the initiative to organize, in cooperation with the United Nations, the Forum on Asia-Africa cooperation in Export Promotion, to take place from 14-16 December this year.

Japan attached great importance to South-South cooperation through the promotion of Asia-Africa cooperation within the TICAD process, and was pleased to be able to inform the Board that UNIDO had provided valuable technical support to the Africa-Asia Business Forum.
21- وقال إن اليابان تعلق أهمية كبيرة على التعاون فيما بين بلدان الجنوب من خلال تعزيز التعاون بين آسيا وأفريقيا في إطار عملية مؤتمر طوكيو، ويسرها أن تعلم المجلس بأن اليونيدو قدمت دعما تقنيا قيما إلى منتدى الأعمال التجارية لأفريقيا وآسيا.

At the request of the UNDP/TICAD Unit for Africa, a series of strategy papers on " Enhancing Private-Sector Development in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities of Asia-Africa cooperation " was prepared.
6- وبناء على طلب الوحدة الخاصة بأفريقيا والمشتركة بين برنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي ومؤتمر طوكيو الدولي المعني بالتنمية في أفريقيا، أُعدت مجموعة ورقات استراتيجيات بشأن " تدعيم تنمية القطاع الخاص في أفريقيا: التحديات والفرص التي يطرحها التعاون بين آسيا وأفريقيا " .

(d) The Office of the Special Adviser on Africa, in its capacity as a co-organizer of the third Tokyo International Conference on African Development, promoted Asia-Africa cooperation in general and triangular cooperation (cooperation between two developing countries supported by a developed country) in particular.

10. Furthermore, Asia-Africa cooperation in capacity-building should be guided by the present context of globalization and trade liberalization.

18. The Seoul Forum provided a unique opportunity for various actors to exchange views on practical aspects in the field of trade and export promotion and to explore ways and means of strengthening Asia-Africa cooperation in this critical area.
١٨ - أتاح ملتقى سول لفعاليات مختلفة فرصة فريدة لتبادل اﻵراء حول الجوانب العملية في مجال التجارة وتشجيع الصادرات واستكشاف سبل ووسائل تعزيز التعاون اﻵسيوي اﻷفريقي في هذا المجال الحاسم.

(c) Activities to strengthen Asia-Africa cooperation on combating desertification and/or mitigating the effects of drought, without neglecting cooperation with other developing countries affected by desertification and drought;

The meeting made concrete recommendations for Asia-Africa cooperation and will be an important input to the Second Asia-Africa Forum to be held early in 1997.
