ان من الممكن ان تجد بلدان شرق اسيا ان من الصعوبة بمكان اجراء مراقبة خفية لسياسات البلد الاخر وفرض شروط صارمة تتعلق بالسياسات . ان مثال اليونان قبل وخلال ازمة منطقة اليورو يظهر انه عادة تجد الدول ان من الصعوبة بمكان ان تكون قاسية على جاراتها .
