1. The guidelines for the preparation of Communications by Annex I Parties have three principal purposes:

74. The provision for Communications by means of telephone, facsimile, Internet and courier services includes the cost of communication between the Registry and judges working from home.

The SBI may likewise aim at adopting conclusions and/or recommendations to the COP that would address the facilitation of the preparation of the Communications by Parties not included in Annex I.

As with cluster B/1, the approach presented here builds on the revised UNFCCC guidelines for preparation of national Communications by Annex I Parties under the Convention, planned for adoption at COP 5.

The training materials were designed to facilitate the preparation of national Communications by non-Annex I Parties in accordance with the UNFCCC guidelines for the preparation of national communications from non-Annex I Parties.
