This requirement has been met from within approved resources under the programme budget for 2008-2009, as detailed in paragraphs 15 and 16 (c) of A/C.5/63/17, which is currently before the General Assembly for its consideration at the sixty-third session.

Upon enquiry, the Committee was informed that if the budget outline were to include the estimates of all items currently before the General Assembly and foreseeable items in reports yet to be issued, the budget outline would be likely to increase to a preliminary estimate of $5,187.1 million (see annex below).

In line with the provisions contained in paragraph 11 of General Assembly resolution 63/266 on the proposed programme budget outline for the biennium 2010-2011, to the extent possible efforts have been made to provide information on initiatives currently before the General Assembly and foreseeable items that have not yet been issued that may impact the budget outline and is reflected under section VI below and annex II to the present report.

A number of other reports of the Secretary-General currently before the General Assembly contain proposals related to UNLB, namely the reports on the support account for peacekeeping operations for 2011/12 (A/65/761) and on United Nations air operations (A/65/738), as well as the progress report on the implementation of the global field support strategy (A/65/643).
