The Ad Hoc Committee first met in July 2002, and at its second meeting in June 2003 decided to establish a Working Group with the aim of preparing and presenting a draft text of a convention that would be the basis for negotiation by Member States.

8- ووفقاً لما قرّره الفريق العامل في دورته الثامنة والخمسين (A/CN.9/765، الفقرة 14)، أعدت الأمانة مشروع نص اتفاقية بشأن الشفافية، بالإضافة إلى مشروع توصية بغية إتاحة ما يمكن من سبل تطبيق قواعد الشفافية على المنازعات الناشئة في إطار معاهدات الاستثمار القائمة، لتنظر فيها اللجنة.

4. Decides that the Ad Hoc Committee shall hold, within existing resources, prior to the sixty-first session of the General Assembly, two sessions in 2006, one of fifteen working days from 16 January to 3 February, in order to achieve a complete reading of the draft text of a convention prepared by the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee and one of ten working days from 7 to 18 August;

18. The Centre continued to support ECOWAS in the implementation of its moratorium on the importation, exportation and manufacture of light weapons and provided technical expertise to West African civil society in Bamako for the organization of a civil society workshop on a review of a draft text of a convention for the control of small arms and light weapons in West Africa.
