20. At its 28th meeting, on 3 June 2010, the Committee heard a statement by the observer for Ethiopia wherein he informed the Committee that the nongovernmental organization Ethiopian Human Rights Council had not yet rectified its legal status of registration.

In this regard, the translation into local languages and publication of the major international human rights instruments by Ethiopian Human Rights Council; and the translation and publication of the 1949 Four Geneva Conventions and the two Additional Protocols by International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) - Ethiopia, are noticeable efforts.
ومن الجهود الجديرة بالملاحظة في هذا الصدد قيام المجلس الإثيوبي لحقوق الإنسان بترجمة الصكوك الدولية الرئيسية لحقوق الإنسان إلى اللغات المحلية وإصدارها، واضطلاع لجنة الصليب الأحمر الدولية - إثيوبيا بترجمة وإصدار اتفاقيات جنيف الأربع المعقودة في عام ١٩٤٩ والبروتوكولين الإضافيين.

The Committee notes with concern that local human rights NGOs previously active in those areas, including the Ethiopian Human Rights Council, the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association, the Ethiopian Bar Association and the Rehabilitation Centre for Victims of Torture in Ethiopia, are no longer fully operational (arts. 2, 11, 13 and 16).
وتلاحظ اللجنة بقلق انحسار نشاط المنظمات غير الحكومية المحلية التي كانت تعمل في مجال حقوق الإنسان وإقامة العدل، بما فيها المجلس الإثيوبي لحقوق الإنسان ورابطة المحاميات الإثيوبية ورابطة المحامين الإثيوبية ومركز إعادة تأهيل ضحايا التعذيب في إثيوبيا (المواد 2 و11 و13 و16).

(e) To note that the Committee decided to suspend its consideration of the application for consultative status submitted by the non-governmental organization Ethiopian Human Rights Council
(هـ) الإحاطة علما بأن اللجنة قررت تعليق نظرها في طلب الحصول على المركز الاستشاري، المقدم من المنظمة غير الحكومية " المجلس الإثيوبي لحقوق الإنسان " .

(e) To note that the Committee had decided to suspend its consideration of the application for consultative status submitted by the non-governmental organization Ethiopian Human Rights Council;
(هـ) الإحاطة علما بأن اللجنة قد قررت تعليق نظرها في طلب الحصول على المركز الاستشاري، المقدم من المنظمة غير الحكومية " المجلس الإثيوبي لحقوق الإنسان " .

Accordingly, the Committee decided to suspend its consideration of the application of the non-governmental organization Ethiopian Human Rights Council, pending clarity on the legal status of its registration in Ethiopia (see chap. I, draft decision I, subpara. (g)).

Following statements from the representatives of Egypt, the United States, India, Qatar, China, the Sudan, Burundi, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Dominica, Cuba, Israel and Peru and by the observers for Switzerland and Ethiopia, the Committee decided to suspend its consideration of the application submitted by the non-governmental organization Ethiopian Human Rights Council.
