On 20 December 2002, by resolution 57/249, the General Assembly proclaimed 21 May the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
وفي 20 كانون الأول/ ديسمبر 2002، وبمقتضى القرار 57/249، أعلنت الجمعية العامة يوم 21 أيار/مايو اليوم العالمي للتنوع الثقافي من أجل الحوار والتنمية.

The second was aimed at celebrating the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (21 May).

20. The Department promoted the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development within the official framework of the previously mentioned " Do one thing " campaign among its NGO community and the United Nations Academic Impact network.

On 21 May, UNAMI and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), together with representatives from the Government of Iraq, civil society and various communities, marked the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development by organizing a panel discussion and cultural events.

24. In 2013, the " Do one thing for diversity and inclusion " campaign (the social media component of the United Nations World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, celebrated on 21 May), was organized.

In order to encourage the practice of a culture of peace in a daily context, a new edition of the " Do one thing for diversity and inclusion " world campaign was launched by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and UNESCO, together with a group of private-sector companies from Silicon Valley, on the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (21 May).

UNAMI also participated in the planning of the United Nations Peace Day, together with agencies, funds and programmes (UNDP, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)), and collaborated with UNESCO to prepare the celebration of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

Paragraph 16 of document A/57/226 recommended the endorsement by the General Assembly of the Universal Declaration and the main lines of its action plan, and the proclamation of 21 May as the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
