This was a historic visit on a number of levels; most notably it was the first visit of a Lebanese Prime Minister since the brief trip by Fuad Siniora in July 2005.
واعتبرت هذه الزيارة تاريخية على عدة صعد، خصوصا لكونها أول زيارة يقوم بها رئيس وزراء لبناني منذ الزيارة القصيرة التي قام بها فؤاد السنيورة في تموز/يوليه 2005.

I have the honour to forward to you the address of Fuad Siniora, Prime Minister of Lebanon, to the Diplomatic Corps that was delivered on 19 July 2006, in Beirut, to launch an urgent appeal to the international community for an immediate ceasefire and for humanitarian assistance for Lebanon (see annex).

I received a letter dated 29 January 2008 from the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Mr. Fuad Siniora (see annex), in which he requested technical assistance for the Government of Lebanon's efforts to investigate the murder of Major Wissam Eid of the Internal Security Forces, Adjutant Oussama Merheb and other civilians.
تلقيت رسالة مؤرخة 29 كانون الثاني/يناير 2008 من رئيس الوزراء اللبناني، السيد فؤاد السنيورة (انظر المرفق)، يطلب فيها تقديم مساعدة تقنية إلى الحكومة اللبنانية في مساعيها الرامية إلى التحقيق في اغتيال النقيب وسام عيد في قوى الأمن الداخلي والرقيب أول أسامة مرعب ومدنيين آخرين.

In Lebanon, Hizbollah, in violation of the Blue Line, attacked Israel from Lebanese territory and killed and captured Israeli soldiers, reversing the positive trends that began with the Syrian withdrawal in 2005, and undermining the democratically elected Government of Prime Minister Fuad Siniora.
